The New Testament consistently says that the gospel message came first to the Jews, though the Gentiles were the eventual recipients. Early in their work Paul and Barnabas recognized that their duty was to bring the good news to the Gentiles. Seeing the gospel was gaining acceptance the Jewish leaders incited both men and women of status to reject Paul and Barnabas. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas. So, they shook the dust of their feet, obeying Jesus’ command to His disciples and fled. Joy is the outward expression of the work of the Holy Spirit.

Wanda, a bondservant of Brennan (my cat) and of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just kidding. I am a willing servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Then I try and obey my husband when possible. Otherwise I reek havoc in my life.For judgement is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgement. (Hence the name of Beth Moore’s bible study “Mercy Triumphs”. On session 2 and loving every minute of it. I would stay in Bible Study all day if I could but I have to earn some money so guess I better not skip work today. LOL

Resolution

Definition -
(a)the act of resolving or determining upon an action, method, procedures, etc.
(b) the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose

I’m sensitive about resolutions. I make them every year and forget then by February. So last year I chose to make my resolutions by the month. Each month a new resolution for that particular month. It worked until September when I fell off course. Therefore, this year I am going to try and make them monthly again and see if I can complete a year of acting on my resolutions. I thought that if I put them here in public I might get the support needed to pull it off. So here goes.

1. My January resolution was to go one month without drinking a soft drink, diet or otherwise.

Well I can tell you now that this month has about 5 days left in it and I made all the days but about 4 so far. Yes, I admit I slipped but I did not fall because for the majority of the month I made it. Diet soda’s are bad for my body and I am trying to stop the habit. I tell people all the time to quit smoking and I can’t even quit drinking diet pepsi. I’m addicted. I admit it. My name is Wanda and I am a Pepsi-holoic.
Also, recently I have been accused of being a hoarder. Which brings me to February. I am going to stop buying coffee cups by the dozens. I will break this bad habit that is bad for my cabinet shelves and my husband’s nerves. So Bring on February I say. Stay tuned to see how I do throughout the year and please share if you have any kind of addiction. LOL as my daughter would say.

New Bible Study on James

I am starting a new bible study by Beth Moore on James. I love it already. It has much more to say about introspection. I tend to be a follower and not a leader but that’s ok. I also love to learn. I have been reading this morning from Joshua. Joshua 1:8 to be exact in my study Bible. Some study notes at the bottom just couldn’t be missed so I have included them here. I could not have said this better in my own words so I will take literary license and repeat theirs.

Many people think prosperity and success come from having power, influential personal contacts, and a relentless desire to get ahead. (Unfortunately, my son is one of these). But the strategy for gaining prosperity that God taught Joshua goes against such criteria. He told Joshua that to succeed he must (1) be strong and brave because the task ahead would not be easy (2) obey God’s law, and (3) constantly read and study God’s Word.

You may not succeed by world standards but you will succeed in God’s eyes. Here I need to ask you, Who counts the most anyway? It is God’s opinion who matters most.

Someone was asked to read and give a peer review for a college essay assignment. They wrote harshly about that paper. Maybe, and I say maybe there was a grain of truth in that assessment, however, the review was written so negatively that the person receiving the review was hurt and couldn’t see past the stinging criticism. Remember that if you are ever asked to give a peer review or offer an opinion. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and ask yourself if you would like to hear this. No one wants to be criticised but sometimes we need to hear things but kindness is the way to go. Always with kindness. Sorry I got so wordy today but I needed to get this one out.

Christians are to do as Jesus did. Those who claim to be Christians should live morally, as He did. The emphasis is on the way we live. How do you live?
